Companies are a gathering place for people to do business.

People do the work of businesses.

People need structure.  People need process.  People need purpose.

Definition of People:  collection of individuals.

Individuals need plans.

One Page Plans work because they cause people to STOP, THINK & WRITE about their business.

When individuals write plans, they own them.  Their words reflect their ideas, their passion about their business.

One Page Plans work because individuals write them!

When individuals write a One Page Plan, they get to see their ideas in writing.

Once you begin to see your ideas in writing…you either love them or hate them.

The process of writing does something amazing; it will confirm both your clarity and confusion.

Somebody who will suffer through the pain of writing…is somebody who is trying to grow.

I am convinced we can only grow our businesses as fast we grow personally.

Writing is one of the most powerful forms of introspection, learning and healing.

One Page Plans work because we simplified the process of writing them.  (only requires key words/short phrases)

Use 5 simple, intuitive, universally understood questions.  No complicated definitions or terminology.

We have learned how to help people focus on what is important to them.

We have learned people really do know how to plan.  With just a little bit of help, we teach/show them how to take what is on the inside (of themselves), and bring it to the outside…where it can be seen, reviewed, refined and shared with others.

We’ve learned almost no one can write a plan by themselves.  Everyone benefits from an external facilitator.

Tip #1. Turn your business upside down, inside out and see what opportunities you might have in this new marketplace.

Times are tough, but people still buy, still need your services, and are struggling with how they can continue their lifestyle needs in this economic downturn.  Some businesses will definitely thrive in this kind of marketplace.  People want value; they still want the same things, but perhaps feel like they simply can’t afford them.  That’s where you come in to re-shape your business offerings to address your client need.  Try offering a low- risk, low-cost offering. Package your offerings in a different way, or even add new products or offerings based on today’s market.  Improving customer service, adding value and going the extra mile will keep your customers happy and generate new business.

Tip #2.  Get your name and business out there!  Market, Market, Market!

When times get tough, some businesses pull back on their marketing and advertising budget. I don’t recommend this at all – companies that market and advertise now gain market share simply because others have left the marketplace.  The perception is that if you’re marketing and you’re highly visible, you must be doing well.  Everyone loves to work with or buy products from businesses they think are winners!

Tip #3.  Don’t get caught in “The Chicken Little” mentality. The sky is not falling, just changing.

This is a big one!  Don’t let the survival mentality get you down.  When you view your business with new eyes, and believe that what you think – is what you’ll get, you’ll quickly realize that when you are positive, creative and pro-active your business can soar to new heights, even in today’s changing marketplace.
